The Weasel

This popping mortar joint recalled an old boss who would whistle, Pop goes the Weasel, and somehow make it surreal. I miss you Wally Rosen.

St Louis City - Mid Century Industrial

I love this building. Both its design and bricks.
I've been photographing industrial oofices and plants for years. Their designs are compelling while their aluminum window frames were a disater. They weather poorly and rust.

St Louis Brick Street

Becuase of the heavy passage of cars these Hydraulic Brick pavers show interesting wear. Not breakage but a slow erosion that is beautiful.

Rising damp

See the copper band extending from the brick and sloped down? It's extends into the building, a full sheet of it, and was designed to prevent rising damp. I've seen this all over France, Italy, and England but this was the first time in STL.

Brick Street in St Louis

2014.
There's still many brick paved streets in STL that haven't been covered with asphalt. Here's one The Hill not far from where the Hydraulic Brick CO was located. There's mortar between the bricks. The streets near the curbs were smooth as glass and easy to ride.
Hydraulic Brick was owned by T.S. Eliot's father.

On the Street Where I Live - St Louis Brick

"I have often walked down this street before But the pavement always stayed beneath my feet before All at once am I several stories high Knowing I'm on the street where you live" The best brick on the block nest to our pink brick.

We don't need no stinkin' windows

I wondered if perhaps the owner did this to contain a situation in need of serious repairs that weren't affordable at the time. If not, nice dungeon dude!

Roman Brick. North ST Louis

My big brother, Bill Monroe, took this photo of a bando house near his block. He resides on Maple just up the streets a bit from Better Family Life. This house is on Maple.
I may have to drive by since this house looks to have been built from Roman brick.

1913 Mailbox

2014

Back when I was an athletic and riding the city documenting brick paved streets.

The Studio

Outside/inside of the bando factory that Lee bought for studio space.
That wasn't a mullet! I did have the sides of my head shaved which I painted at night for clubbing. It was the mid 80s. This is where I learned basic Oxygen Acetylene Gas Welding which is much fun. And, how to operate a backhoe.
