2014.
There's still many brick paved streets in STL that haven't been covered with asphalt. Here's one The Hill not far from where the Hydraulic Brick CO was located. There's mortar between the bricks. The streets near the curbs were smooth as glass and easy to ride.
Hydraulic Brick was owned by T.S. Eliot's father.
Presenting a collection of St. Louis bricks, sidewalk markers, and the Fleur-de-lis as architectural detail on and in city buildings, brick collecting, urban exploration, and my life by Christian Herman. Reporting from Tower Grove South in St. Louis, MO

Volutes
Years ago.
Lee had been hired to replace the steps and volutes on this home on Washington. He had just finished the installation of these marble steps. The *steps* cost 20K and shipped from Indiana. With Lee's $95 an hour fee I figured these cost 50K.
And then we went to lunch.
