My Grandmother tells fascinating stories of shopping in St. Louis.
"First I would go downtown to Styx, then to my favorite, which was Scruggs. Then Judy and I would ride the streetcar to the Central West End and have lunch outside at a cafe terrace. We would end the day at Saks. Imagine a time when a lady could be fitted for a dress while enjoying a glass of brandy with a cigarette...and of course we'd never dream of leaving the house without a hat and gloves. Now you're lucky to see a lady properly covering her legs."
I wish I lived then. But I'll take the stories from my Grandmother as a close second.
