Snags
The arboratum that is my back yard is home maintains a dead trees. They are called snags and are important to wildlife such as woodpeckers, kestrels, owls, nuthatches and bluebirds. Many mammals use tree cavities in snags, including bats, squirrels, raccoons, and opossums.
