Sam said this original front railing had been damaged. It had been removed and placed inside the building and recently was reinstalled.

Awesome! I am on phillips ave a few blocks away and have admired that building for years. I have wondered what the view is like way up there. I have no idea how i found your blog, but i am very glad I did. I like have local stuff show up in my rss feed. ;-)

I don;t have any photos of the inside. I wish I had taken some the time I did a walkabout in there while it was still 12 studio apartments. The floor plan was amazing with each apartment having two doors.
I would walk home from school on Oak Hill as a teenager and the roof was covered with clothing drying on lines.
That means those women hauled wet laundry from the basement up its 3 floors to the roof.
