Breakfast

Me: I'm headed out for a road trip today.
Pist: You have a shopping problem.
Me: ( jubilant) I have a shopping adventure.
Pist: You have FOMO.
Me: Well....

Later at the flea market I spy a woman shopping with her husband.
Me: You have a man that shops with you!?
Her: Yes! And he's so good looking. I tell him he's lucky I like shopping here and not at Macy's.
Me: Wow. You have the life.

In The Wild

I found this at the FP Goodwill store.
This is a rare blue Crown Trifari Necklace & Bracelet Alfred Philippe Blue Fruit Salad necklace and bracelet set from the 50s. Scored for 1.99, sold for $225.
Man, I love my gig.

Box of water

WACKY! Found in the Wild this is supposed to be a view of the Falls from your window. So tacky and contrived I thought it was a Spenser's gifts item. Plug it in, it lights up and the Falls 'move'.
And then of couse it sold.

Vintage Mother Birthstone Brooch

Called a Mother's pin, this wreath allowed birth stones to be added for each child.
I've seen these in the Wild over the decades but never one with 11 stones.

In the Wild

I've been hitting the thrifts since I as 14.
My first visit to a Goodwill store was so exciting. A collection of previously unseen OLD things! It's where I developed my interests: Archaeology. Design. Textiles. History.
And weirdly fun stuff like this. Ganymede?

1940s Murano Glass Necklace

I'd found this luminous, Murano glass bead necklace in The Wild 8 years ago. I bought it for $4 and sold it for $400. In retrospect it sould have been $1,200 but easy come and all.
So many beautiful things have passed through my hands but to keep them would be hoarding.
Having these pieces isn't as thrilling as the hunt and the excitement of the find. That very moment when my eyes widen with discovery.
The find.

Thrift Karma

Yippee!
I'll sell it everntually but for now it's wonderful company or us.

My uncanny and magical Talent

I needed a small vintage light bulb for the base of my Empoli glass lamp. Two days later I found one in the Wild. I love the spot of solder on it!
My thrift mojo never fails me.
Never.

Van Briggle Pottery Buffalo Bison Bookends

I found these somewhere in the Wild 8 years ago. Paid maybe $20. Sold for $895. Circa 1910.

Fenton Hobnail Ruffled Glass Cake Stand

A lovely find in The Wild. It sold for $155 just weeks after I found it. It paid a bill.

Pist (exiting the bathroom): You've a full on arsenal of girl products in there.
Me: So how many did you use?
Pist: Uh...two...how's my hair look?
Me: Killer, baby.
Pist: Is that a Max Neiger brooch?
Me: Def Czechoslovakian but I doubt it's a Neiger. The smaller stones aren't rope bezel set.
Pist: But you like it?
Me: I love it. It makes my eyes roll up in my head with that intense blue and its delicate filigree.

See/Saw

A brilliantly designed vintage 50s jig saw.
I found this in The Wild and have never been able to part with it. The blade is soldered into place.

Red Imperial Carnival Glass

VERY rare.
I find these pieces in The Wild. The most I've ever spent on a platter was 9.99. Sold for $275. That iridescent glaze reflects bent light onto our ceiling :)

Found in The Wild

Last week I scored this stunning Empoli glass table lamp. Mass manufactured in the 50s to 60s and imported from Italy.
This baby is getting a new/old parchment shade next week. There's a seller on Etsy making 50s shades and they are killer.
Found near a 60s Silver ombre Queen's Lusterware barware set in unsued condition. Chrome caddy.

The Orry-Kelly Necktie

I pulled this out of my necktie stash one day and fainted dead away after seeing Orry-Kelly on its back. WHere did I find it? I don't recall. But I can guarantee this is the only Orry-Kelly that was left in the world. he had won three Academy Awards for Best Costume Design and was an early lover of Gary Grant.
I way underpriced this necktie at $300 so someone deserving could buy it.
It went to a man who is on one of the Boards of the Heasrt Mansion.
The things that I find and am able to hold before passing them along.
Over 100 years old, this necktie was made in New York.
