Cake Standa

Just one of my delighful obsessions: vintage cake stands. This is a 13" Fenton Hobnail White Milk Glass Pedestal Cake Plate with a ruffle edge. My gawd, the ruffles!

Whoops

Drives me batshit.
Two things are so wrong: the brick used to fill a window is an interior brick. It's soft and eventually it will crumble. The brick wasn't rebedded.

Morgan Ford Vignette in Tower Grove South

Bullnose brick column.
Egg and dart capital.
Original copper gutter.
Stretcher bond.
Beautiful.

Bakelite

Bakelite is an old love of mine. I've collected bakelite knobs off of tossed TVs in alleys for 5 decades and turned them into drawer pulls. I love the stuff but my attachment has waned.
I mean, there's only so much room in our house.
Just some spacers.

Baby's new Shoes

Found in The Wild a few years back.

If you're an Artist

You must study Ikebana which means living sculpture.
You must understand Three and know that Three is the Lucky Prime in math theory.
You must practice Ikebana weekly. If you don't have flowers use fresh cut twigs.
Understand the significance of the container. Understand resonance.
Buy antique Ikebana books (I've a huge collection) and see how the living containers became the arrangement. Modernist Ikebana is mind blowing.

The Belle File

Your Daily Golden Moment

Liquid gold, baby!

Gone: Church of the Magdalen Teen Town

Church of the Magdalen CYC building which hosted Teen Town in the 60s.
I took this photo shortly before the building was razed.
Google street view shows it standing and then an emptry lot. See it before the images are updated on google by landing on Sutherland and KHW then navigate east.

Harold Horine made these sand-cement multi-colored pottery to sell at roadside stands in the Ozarks. Found in the Wild.

2016

I read to Belle everyday for 30 to 45 mins. She's not liking this book.
