Shawl
Pearl is modeling a shawl I made of wool and upcycled doilies. It sold (for 8 hundred) to a woman in FL who "will use it in my dolls stroller."

Upcycle
I love the challenge of found objects that I can upcyle into a sale.
This vintage bag had a filthy rope handle when I found it. I hung it upside down in bleach to restore it. Sold on Etsy.

La petite porch studio
That summer when I created new studio space outside.
"There are two other huge studios in the building."
Yes, but one is for textile work and the other is organized for the cases!
It's a good thing we've a second floor.

Alley Treasure
30 years ago I was picking up rusted metal objects in the alleys, painting them, adding pearls, stones and making brooches.
I employed three sales reps.
One of the Sales Rep, Lisa, had sold my work to every art museum and gallery gift shop in the midwest.
The Walker Museum. Chicago Art Institute. SLAM. ETC.
One day Lisa called to tell me that a Buyer was pissed off at her. Lisa had been explaining how I sourced materials.
If you don't want to tell me, she had said, Don't sit there and make something up!
OK, Lisa, I said, from now tell them it's cast copper.
Also? Raise the price of every piece by $10. She sold everything :)
I kept this piece and have been meaning to rework it for decades.
I love alleys! I found an intact two pane stain glass window last week!

The Heiress
A confection I made from an upcycled bridesmaids dress, buckram, balance, and position. I also made the freshwater pearl necklace.
