ART DECO BUILDING - JAY ASIA - SOUTH GRAND
Silver glazed terra cotta! Lushly ornate and made to resemble chrome. Currently occupied by Jay Asia.

That terra cotta actually has a chrome overglaze. According to Larry Giles, that's the only surviving example of such terra cotta in St. Louis.
Star Furniture built the Jay Asia building in 1936 and apparently used the shiny terra cotta to underscore its name (star shine).
Thanks, Michael.
It's real fired on chrome?
I've never met Larry Giles (I think I would swoon, no lie) and have only seen some of his collection at the STLU show.
See you Saturday at the fundraiser,
xian
