My Pin Up Girl

Something about this pose looked very familiar as I walked by her.

44XX Arsenal

I love this building  on Arsenal.
I took this photo in 2014. I've stalked it for years.
It had gone into foreclosure around 2008 and sold in 2009. WHile it has red LRA boarding it's owned and the taxes paid.
Perhaps its rehab plans fell through due to covid.
According to the building permit records it was to be converted into two condos in 2011.
During 2019 it's vinyl cladding was applied. It's a weirdly protected bando along with its attached building.

My Beau

1940s Murano Glass Necklace

I'd found this luminous, Murano glass bead necklace in The Wild 8 years ago. I bought it for $4 and sold it for $400. In retrospect it sould have been $1,200 but easy come and all.
So many beautiful things have passed through my hands but to keep them would be hoarding.
Having these pieces isn't as thrilling as the hunt and the excitement of the find. That very moment when my eyes widen with discovery.
The find.

The Last Half

The last half of my life has been delight, immense fortune, world travel, and adventure.
Brilliant friends, interesting and talented partners.
I've had such great fortune even when health issues were complicated.
And then this morning I harvested most of my dinner from our garden.

Dawgs

Vintage 50s fabric that I found in The Wild. Cotton flannel. Perhaps designed for a man's shirt. Sold.
Irish setter, an English setter, both with artistic license. And, maybe a Pointer..
Mostly I know the names of the trees they peed on.

A proclivity for hot pink

Back when we dined out.

We don't need no stinkin' windows

I wondered if perhaps the owner did this to contain a situation in need of serious repairs that weren't affordable at the time. If not, nice dungeon dude!

Showered in the Wind

That's what my dictated text read yesterday. I meant to say they showered at the Y. It made me think of my brief time in the town of Mojave and the desert.
Beucase in the Mojave, I did shower in the intense, Santa Ana winds.

Good Morning!

A happy dog makes our happy house.

Billboard in East St Louis

Billboard in East St Louis advertising a Commercial Custodial program. This is racist AF.

Bellie to the Rescue

Vet appointment on Saturday for a look at a possible new tumor when Bellie heard a puppy crying.
While working in the yard a few years I cried in pain when I dropped a rock on my foot. Bellie came running to help me.
It was fascinating to see her reaction and her kindness. The universe has blessed me with great fortune and beautiful dogs.

The Puzzle Palace

Me: You're supposed to roll the toy about to release its treats not snuggle with it.
Bellie: But you gave it to me! It is a gift of love!
Me: It's not a pillow.
Bellie: I LOVE IT!

Roman Brick. North ST Louis

My big brother, Bill Monroe, took this photo of a bando house near his block. He resides on Maple just up the streets a bit from Better Family Life. This house is on Maple.
I may have to drive by since this house looks to have been built from Roman brick.

Getting Around

Pist, It's a good thing I've the entire first floor and the basement.
I love my vintage globes.

My notion of Heaven

Just some of my massive vintage dolie collection in the studio. I use these in the shawls I make and sell.
It was heaven to open this tub.
I can’t wait to open the one below it.

Ironing Board

This should be in a design museum.
Whenever I see ironing boards I think of Willie Coles.

My Daily Golden Moment

I was working at my desk this morning when Ballet arrived to thank me for her breakfast. This involved placing her feet on mine and snuggling against my calf. She does this every day.
