Direct from my garden feat a rabid heat. I stay 2 feet away from these except when harvesting. Closer contact makes me sneeze.

Rising damp
See the copper band extending from the brick and sloped down? It's extends into the building, a full sheet of it, and was designed to prevent rising damp. I've seen this all over France, Italy, and England but this was the first time in STL. 
This morning's Ikebana
I've praticed Ikebana weekly for 35 years during the warmer months.
Ikebana means Living Sculpture and I'm obsessed with it. I've a huge vintage Ikebana book collection and some outrageous containers from the 40s and 50s. Ikebana from 50s Japan was mind blowing!
Ikebana is an assist with creativity, something I can't ever turn off. I recommend it for anyone making sculpture. Especially free standing pieces. It provides order. It should be taught in art classes so students can develop balance and movement.
I'm not overtly happy with this amaryllis Ikebana. I will rework it tomorrow morning with fresh material.
Always cut your source in the early mornings.
These aren't upside down. I had cut the flowers from the stems. However, the presentation needs a rework with a larger kenzan and a different container.

Scullin Steel RIP - Manchester Ave
In my early 20s I worked late in the college library. On the drive home I would pass Scullin Steel (RIP) at night just to see its massive green letters. Its massive plant was across the street with a third shift. The plant is now failing mall.

That summer when I created new studio space outside.

Yes, but one is for textile work and the other is organized for the cases!
